Budgeting is crucial to ensure that all of your important expenses are accounted for accordingly. We have a written-out budget that we strictly follow! One thing that helps me is to use the notepad on my phone so I can make notes of any purchases in the moment so I don’t forget about them later.

After all of our bills are budgeted out, we ensure that we add in extra “fun” money and savings into the budget. We set aside our “fun” for small and large activities, like the family photo shoot we did (pictured here).

What a beautiful family photo! It is a great idea to budget for fun and entertainment in your family spending plan, as Brianna suggests. The key to a successful spending plan is to find the right system that works for you. Brianna uses the notepad in her phone to keep her family on track. There are lots of options out there: spreadsheets, pen and paper, budgeting apps. The most important factor is your commitment to stick with it and find the tracking method that works best for you.
