What to do when you’ve been compromised

Each situation will be different but the key is to act quickly!

Step 1 —  Call the companies where you know fraud occurred.

Step 2 —  Place a fraud alert and get your credit reports.

Step 3 —  Report identity theft to the FTC.

Also consider changing login information to financial institutions. You may need to order new credit or debit cards so be sure to factor that into your recovery plan if you have automatic bill pay tied to your old cards.

Visit www.identitytheft.gov for a comprehensive action plan specific to your situation.
